Report: Pres says Moldova wants 25–30% discount on Russian gas

CHISINAU, Jul 29 (PRIME) – Moldova, which receives gas from Russia under a 2008 agreement that is prolonged annually, wants a 25–30% discount on Russian as an observer in the Eurasian Economic Union (EurAsEc), President Igor Dodon told channel RTR Molvova in an interview broadcast ùòJuly 26.

“Moldova needs a discount of 25–30% on the current gas supplies, or we will have to raise the tariffs. Taking into account the fact that Moldova is an observer in the EurAsEc, my goal is to convince (Russia) to provide us a discount,” Dodon said, adding that he had sent an official request to Moscow.

Dodon also said that if Russian gas transit across Ukraine stops after 2019, it would be hard for Moldova to receive reverse supplies from other states.
